The name painting concept was developed during a lesson the artist

was teaching to a group of kindergarten students many years

ago...using movement and music and art in a related arts program, the

students were asked to form the letters of the alphabet with their

bodies.

Some students realized they needed a partner to form some of the

letters....they then painted the letters on paper with large brushes

and primary colors....eliminating any tightness or fear of writing or

forming the letters...a totally sensory experience.

From observing the students in their formations, the artist saw a

way to create an expressive lettering alphabet using figures of

friends engaged in various sports which she then used in her

classroom. When her first nephew was born, she created the first

"name painting" as a present to his parents. The rest is history!

Name paintings are not limited to newborns and many have been created

for adults and whole families as well.

All letters are 3" high and are designed to represent the person

whose name is being painted. A 1 1/2" margin of watercolor paper is

left at the top and bottom and the work may be ordered with a mat, of

your choosing, or without a mat. (Please see form for further

There is a minimum order of 3 letters per painting and a maximum of 9

letters per line. Designs can be created with 2 or 3 rows if desired.

Prices are $15. per letter for a single name and $25. for a letter

requiring 2 figures. (A,H,M,W)
